I did this blog posting quite awhile ago and just never posted it! So that’s what I’m doing right now! This photo was on the cover of the Isthmus like 6 months ago! One of my favorite covers I’ve done for them. oxox
Tomorrow is August 16.
I thought about blogging Matt & Katie’s engagement session everyday since I took them. Did I do the blogging? nope. And now they are getting married tomorrow so…..ah….it’s up before their wedding! It’s an Up North WEDDING!!! my favorite. Man–I love that lake Supierior. It’s a wedding at a family cabin right outside of Washburn. It’s going to be amazing.
We did the engagement session in May?? maybe May? There was still ice in the lake and Katie and Matt jumped in. They hemmed and hawed about the jumping in for awhile—maybe or maybe not slammed a beer–and went for it. Looked really cold. I’m pretty sure they’re gonna jump in tomorrow too. I’ll ask them to at least. Matt and Katie live somewhere on a mountain in Colorado. That’s pretty cool. I realize this blog is very random and all over the place. I still have a lot to do before I drive up to Ashland tomorrow. My brain is sorta full right now. I am super excited for their wedding!!!!!!!
I really loved how this family photo turned out! They were the perfect amount of wild for me! I kept emailing Sarah (the mom) and telling her how amazing her family photos were. I thought she should be reminded a lot I guess. The dad Chet kept calling me Penelope which I really loved! I like making up names for people cause sometimes I bet i’m giving them a way better name than they already have. Like Penelope for example. Trumps Sharon any day!!! His name may or maynot really be Chet.
The kids were cute and kid cute things. The parents seemed a little exhausted but still in good spirits about the whole thing. They were a great team. I think at one point I heard Chet say to Sarah, “love, will you grab that bag in the car.” Now that is amazing. The part where he calls her “love”. According to me.
I did head shots at the ad agency KW2. I really enjoyed talking to & meeting the all the KW2-ers. In between the head shots I would walk around the office getting photos of people working–which is a pretty fun thing to do. A few were set up but mostly they are real office moments. how about that!!! real office moments!
I did some photos for Madison Magazine about bikes & people. My two favorite things ever. And my photo is on the cover! I called my parents when I found out. I am very excited!! When I found out they were going to put Mr. Langeston Hughes on the cover I was extra excted. He’s fun & lov’n life. I ran into him at the Madison Magazine office and made him take a selfie with me & the magazine. That’s right. I did that!!! All the people I shot for this were really great!!!! I met people all over the place and did some action shots and some smiling shots….& it was fuuuuunnnnnn!!!!! I had Chris Klinge help me on a shoot and my gal pal Andrea also helped carry my photo stuffs and held lights….Thanks team!!!! Andrea asked for a signed copy….the rest of y’all are just gonna have to line up out side the Cinnabon for when I do an official signing. Details to follow.
Angela & Erica are getting married soooon! like 2 months soon! We were all over the place for engagement photos. Tenney park, Johnson Street Coffee Shop, & The Capitol! We were going to do photos at Himal Chuli but they were crazy busy at 6pm. I was sad about that but these photos we got sure are cute!!!! I’m so happy we ran into the Forward band. They are my favorites from the day.
I told them we were FOR SURE WE ARE NOT GOING TO WALK ON THE ICE!!! People fall through the ice. I walked on the ice. We didn’t fall through.
Erica & Angela are perfect together. I asked them what they liked about each other and it was nice hearing their answers. And the cutest part is that they didn’t really answer me –they talked to each other about what they liked about each other and mostly pretended I wasn’t there. Which is totally what I said to do when I started taking photos. So it makes sense.
good photos team!!! looking forward to your wedding!!!
I loved loved loved taking photos at the schools!!! I loved meeting the teachers and watching the kids. It’s crazy. Well it’s not really that crazy. They seem pretty organized really. But just crazy that I got to do it! Next I need to get into a jail for photos. So if you know of anybody that needs jail photos let me know. Schools are not like jails. I am not saying that. Schools are just one of those places you can’t walk into and take photos. I had get buzzed in and report to offices. It all felt very official.
Teachers are cool people. You know this.
I photographed in six schools and you know what I did—I did some name dropping so the teachers would like me. I dropped Coleen Hayes’s name all over! I sure did. Cause everyone knows her and loves her. She works at White Horse. Go Bear Clan!!!
I took these photos for Madison Magazine and have been doing some work for them here & there! It’s great. Editorial work is fun and I get to shoot some things I never would get to otherwise meet some really great people out in the world.
2013. BOOM 2013!!! Yeah!!! There was some good and some bad–right?? I suppose that is what happens every year. I’m going to focus on the good parts cause nobody wants to read a debbie downer blog. (well….more people would probably like to but not from me SUCKAS!!!) I got to shoot some fun fun fun photos in the world this past year! Lots of Isthmus and a few Madison Magazine shots (which is new!! or newish!!). Shot more commercial stuff than in the past which I really loved doing and of course the 100’s of orange & white photo shoots took up some time. Weddings & Families & Seniors & Baby shoots!!!
some things I learned yo: Philanthropists really are happy. Happiest group of people I have ever shot. People always relax around animals, every old(er) person thinks they are going to break your camera, and 97% of brides are a delight to be around. oxox
Just kidding! Just kidding. I LOVE the Packers!!!!! I have Packer themed clothes. Ok. maybe I love my packer themed clothes and drinking beers more than I love the Packers…but I still love the Packers. Did Aaron Rogers get married? I feel like I read this somewhere. HEATHER & JOHNNY ALSO LOVE THE PACKERS and had to move their wedding date cause having a wedding in Green Bay on a Packer day and that seems like a real pain in the ass.
This was maybe the fastest photo shoot i’ve ever done! 15 minutes maybe + a location change drive. They really would’ve been done in 4 minutes if I didn’t talk them into the extra 11 minutes. Not one photo was taken without the cheese head. They mean it. I will probably get a Packers dress for their wedding.
Tina is about my favorite person in the world. And Nick is probably my fourth favorite person in the world! AND THEY GOT MARRIED! It was a nice little ceremony at the HIlton Head with family members. The day was easy and cute and heartfelt. Good work team. I’m glad I got to be at your wedding! I did get to the wedding about an hour before the ceremony….a little stressful….but it works! Tina wore a dress she got at BHLDN-which is the Anthropologie wedding dress store. SO CUTE. SO SO CUTE. One of my favoritest dresses so far. And Tina couldn’t quit smiling. It was perfect.
